Babies - The Movie

Written on the 14th of July 2011

This delightful journey of what makes our heart sing – babies, is worth sharing. How often can you invite four families from four corners of the world and their babies into your home to watch and learn how they live?

This remarkable tale introduces Ponijao from Namibia, Hattie from San Francisco, Mari from Tokyo and Bayar from Mongolia. It is directed by award-winning filmmaker Tomas Balmes and follows all four babies first year on earth – from their first breath to their first steps.

Can a baby in Africa with rocks for toys mutter their first word at a similar time that a baby in America that grew up going to music classes and reading books with her parents? The answer will amaze you and remind you that we really don’t need all the material items that come with babyhood to raise our young.

The journey of all these babies will amaze you and in some instances your jaw will drop as safety and sanitation are not at the standards of our first world. Watch Bayar crawl through paddocks of cows and Mari embrace all the stimulation from the urban sprawl of Tokyo.

From one extreme to another, you will find yourself asking the question…is love all we need?

Babies The Movie is now on DVD and you can read more or watch the trailer on the website.
