Another long weekend!! How lucky are we to have an extra day to enjoy this great sunshine!  It’s a busy weekend of events on the coast offering something for everyone!  Whether you’re into motorbikes, crafts or the Wiggles…you’ll be happy getting out and about this weekend! Don’t forget next Sunday is Mother’s Day so make sure you have dropped the hints for your kids to plan something special to spoil you!  (Don't forget your own mum too!) We’ll also have some ideas on ways to celebrate in next weeks What’s on. Have fun!


Emmanuel College presents The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe
Thursday 30 April to Saturday 2 May – 7pm nightly – Gold Coast Arts Centre, 135 Bundall Rd, Surfers Paradise.
This new musical adaptation for upper juniors and lower seniors beautifully captures the mood and drama of the novel Narnia and its supernatural setting, affirming the positive values of Christian ethic, redemption through love. The Wiggles Go Bananas!
Friday 1 May at 4pm and Saturday 2 May 10am and 1pm – Gold Coast Convention Centre, Broadbeach.
Catch the Wiggles latest tour featuring their most infectious songs to date including a duet with Kylie Minogue. They jump into the heart of the groovy animal kingdom with songs such as 'Monkey Man', 'Kangaroo Jumping', 'Tasmanian Devil' and 'Tiger Man'. Tickets are still available at Ticketek for $25 - $30.



KAFE (Kingscliff Arts Food and Entertainment) Fiesta

Friday 1 May to Sunday 3 May – Marine Parade, Kingscliff
This Fiesta will bring Kingscliff to life with artists in the street, a Carnivale themed parade, workshops for adults and youth.  There’ll be a Carnivale themed street parade on Saturday evening beginning at 5pm, local café’s and restaurants will join in the celebration with the ‘Walk Of Art” Friday night with artist exhibitions in over 12 venues, providing live entertainment and KAFE Fiesta menu’s.  FREE.


Starlight Day
Friday 1 May – Across Australia
Starlight Day is a fundraiser for the Starlight Children’s Foundation which brings love laughter and support to seriously ill children and their families. There are many Starlight programs which help bring smiles to the faces of kids that are in hospital. So when you see the Starlight Volunteers selling merchandise and collecting donations, why not contribute to this fantastic cause.  For more information contact 1300 727 827.


Mothers Day Craft Extravaganza
Starts Friday 1 May to Monday 4 May from 10am to 4pm daily - Vonda Youngman Community Centre, Main Street, North Tamborine.
This craft show features all hand made crafts by 50 local South East Queensland craft persons. There is a wide range to choose from so why not find something special for your mother or of course you could treat yourself! The Craft Show supports the Tamborine Mountain Rural Fire Brigade and other charities and a gold coin donation is appreciated.  Contact 5545 2822 for more information.


Family Surfing Adventure
Every Saturday from 8am to 9am – Surfers Paradise Beach, Cnr of Hanlon St and The Esplanade.

Skateboard and Mini Competitions
Saturday 2 May from 10am to 12noon – Arthur Earle Park, Nerang Connection Road, Nerang

2009 Carlton Draught Prime Ministers Cup Raceday
Saturday 2 May from 10am to 5pm - Gold Coast Turf Club Racecourse Drive, Bundall

Showcase on the Beach Ladies Markets
Saturday 2 May to Sunday 10 May from 10am to 3pm, Marine Parade, Coolangatta
Celebrate Mother’s Day with the launch of these ladies markets featuring high street brands in a boutique atmosphere.  See designer labels, gifts and homewares.  There will also be free entertainment by the Sand Wizzard (kids can make mother’s day cards), psychic readings, massage, nutritionist and more.  Phone 5589 6875 for more information. Girls go Surfing!

Let’s go girls! For all of you who haven’t felt confident to give it a go…this session is for you.  Friendly instructors in this all girls learn to surf program.  Whether you’re a first timer or just brushing up on your tricks this one if bound to be fun for the girls! The Rotary Club of Mermaid Beach Annual Art Show
Saturday 2 May to Monday 4 May from 9am to 4:30pm (closes at 4pm on Monday) - Robina Community Centre, Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina
View over 320 pieces of original artwork by 132 local artists, something for everyone’s tastes.  Admission is a $2 donation in support of the Heart Foundation & Qld Cancer Council.  Raffles and prizes to be won!


Paradise Point Uniting Church Gigantic Garage Sale

2009 Labour Day Parade

Sunday 3 May from 9am to 9:30am followed by a family picnic from 9:30am to 12pm – Pratten Park , Broadbeach

Join Helensvale Gold Club in celebrating the Helensvale Festival.  There will be rides, entertainment, food and more and the day will help raise money for the flood and fire victims and the Cancer Council of Qld. 


International Composting Awareness Week

Morning Melodies at Robina featuring the Australian Army Band Concert
Thursday 7 May at 11:30am – Robina Community Centre, Robina Town Centre Dr, Robina.
