Shop & Swap

Written on the 20th of October 2009

Is that new honey? No of course not…this old thing I got last year at that clearance sale – don’t you remember?

Of course he doesn’t remember! Or if he’s onto you (like my hubby is onto me!), and sneaking bags in and hiding them in the closet isn’t working – he doesn’t even soften if they are for the kids!

Check out Shop & Swap where you can get brand name items for less and even buy them with your kid’s old clothes! How you ask? They work on a consignment philosophy where you can either pay cash for clothes or accumulate credits from sending in your old children’s labels!

Shop & Swap is the first of its kind in Australia and of a brilliant way for Mums keep their kids in designer duds at a fraction of the cost. They sell only excellent quality, new season, fashionable clothing, accessories and baby items that are gently worn.

You love quality labels but the kids out grown them so quickly…so if you have boxes waiting for the markets, a hand me down tree or a re-gift basket yourself why not make a quick buck or swap for some new(ish) threads for the kids instead?

They have kid’s clothes from baby to size six and also do maternity gear. It’s brand name clothing like Pumpkin Patch, Country Road, Fred Bare etc and no stains, rips, pilling, missing buttons or fading. They actually tag all the clothes according to their rating (Brand new with tags, new, excellent through to good).

You sign up as a member for $20 for 12 months to start collecting your own credits and that gives you the option to buy any item with up to 50% credits and the remainder cash or other payment method. However, if becoming a member is not for you - you can still purchase clothes with credit card or pay pal anytime.

Shop & Swap pay 50% of the purchase price for any clothes you have given them and they pay 25% of the purchase price if you want your payment in cash. They have a price list on their website that gives you can indication of the price they sell items at.

What a concept – join up and exchange your outgrown kids clothes for new ones! They may be in Melbourne but postage to send a parcel of bags down starts at only $5.50. Contact them for more details via email or visit their website.
