Lots of indoor and outdoor fun this week to be had on the Coast. Enjoy this cool change and whether you curl up on the couch with some movies or you are out adventuring the town - make it great! Don't forget to cheer our Gold Coast United Soccer team as they start the finals! Gooooooaaaal!
 


Breaka Burleigh Surf Pro
Daily until Sunday 21 February from 9am to 5pm daily – Burleigh Heads
Professional surfing is back at Burleigh this week and competition is fierce as the word’s best surfers compete in this event from Pro Juniors through to the Dream Tour Superstars.

  


Kayaking Adventure
Saturday 20 February from 9am to 11am – Phil Hill Environmental Park, Coombabah
Escape the daily grind and head out with a friend for some serenity, kayaking in our beautiful Coombabah wetlands. You can enjoy a guided adventure in a 2 person kayak including some help with your skills and safety equipment for $5. You must be 10 years old to do it alone or 6 years old with an adult. Freeride Australian Open
Sarturday 20 February – time TBC - Phillip Park (opp Sea World), Main Beach
Jet Pilot brings the Coast this dare devil event which will see athletes compete in the waves and pull off back flips and rolls and advance surf riding on jet ski's.

 


Ikin Dance Rehearsals
Saturday 20 February from 2pm – Lorikeet Arena, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Currumbin
This is a shout out to all acrobats, hip hop dancers, break-dancers or sports aerobic stars as Ikin dance has try outs to join their squad and perform at all Titans home games. Rapt in Reptiles Wildlife Workshop
Saturday 20 February from 2pm to 4pm - Queensland Academy for Health Sciences, Edmund Rice Drive, Southport
If you have a budding science major on your hands then this will be fun! Find out all about reptiles in this workshop and meet some really special ones. Why do snakes use their tongues and what makes up a turtle shell are some of the discoveries for children aged 10 to 14. Cost is $25 non members and $20 for members. Scaly Tales Wildlife Workshop
Saturday 20 February from 2pm to 4pm - Queensland Academy for Health Sciences, Edmund Rice Drive, Southport
Calling all reptile lovers! Discover fascinating facts about Australia’s best known reptiles, like the frill-neck dragon. Why does he have a frill? What about the python, how long does it take him to squeeze his prey? This workshop is for children aged 6 to 9 and the cost is $25 non members and $20 for members. Saturday 20 February from 1:30pm to 3:30pm – Peerless Ave, Mermaid Beach

Gold Coast United Semi–Final Action
Saturday 20 February from 7pm – Skilled Park, Robina
It’s finals time and what a superb job our NEW Gold Coast team has done to make the finals in their first year. Support this great effort and make it a fun night out with the family as they take on the Newcastle Jets. They are looking for a sell out! Tickets are on sale at ticketek.

Juggle Jam Circus Fun

Family Surf and Beach Fun
Sunday 21 February from 8am to 9:30am – Lifeguard Tower 22, St Monica Ave (1 tower down from Nobby Beach SLSC), Miami
Surf awareness is on offer and your chance to learn everything you wanted to know about the surf, rips and how to stay safe at the beach. You can also learn how to ride a wave! No experience necessary and bring your body board if you have one. Gold Coast Zumba Charity Afternoon
Sunday 21 February from 3:30pm - Albert Waterways community hall (across from Pac Fair) Cnr hooker blvd & Sunshine Blvd, Broadbeach
If you haven’t already tried this exhilarating new form of exercise/dance that is sweeping the nation this is a great opportunity and it’s for a charitable cause! Get some mama friends together or bring your hubby and Zumba! Cost is $15 and bring a towel.

Mumz with Bubz Movie
Wednesday 24 February from 9:30am – Birch Carrol & Coyle Cinema in Australia Fair, Marine Pde, Southport
Join other Mums for a cuppa and a ‘babes in arm’ movie (not many chances to do this!). They will have Lucy Hendricks from the Fashion Workshop giving tips and conducting a Yummy Mummy workshop. Cost is a movie ticket and you need to RSVP by 19 February by phone 5556 6600.

 


Surfing
Saturdays from 8am at Surfers Paradise – Corner of Hanlan Street and the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise
Sundays in Burleigh – Justins Park, in front of Burleigh Heads SLSC
Fab waves, warm waters and friendly instructors are on hand to give you the help in experiencing surfing yourself. Beginner lessons for all ages and abilities. Bookings are required for both locations. Kids pay just $2 with a paying adult on Sunday so that’s the day to spoil the kids with a movie date and take in one of the latest releases like the Tooth fairy or Alvin & The Chipmunks, The Squeakquel.

 


Library Time
Baby Rhyme Time, Read & Grow and even PJ’s story time where you can come dressed in your pyjamas! There is also after school fun for kids 6 to 12 so check your local library branch.
