Council have released a program to include the kiddies too, that’s children up to six so watch out for superheroes, fairies and pirates running about town.

Kids Crafter-noon with Oh Sew Rosy
Wednesdays & Thursdays from 3.30pm to 4.30pm – 10 Manse Court, Molendinar
Kids can craft the afternoon away, learning to sew, knit or crochet. BYO project or use some great patterns from ‘Oh Sew Rosy’ for things like pencil cases (upcycled from jeans), hats, tutus and cushions. Cost is $10 per session or 5 sessions for $45.

Sew Quilt Knit Crochet- Learn the sewing basics or upskill your craft. BYO project or select a gorgeous pattern from ‘Oh Sew Rosy’. Cost is $35 (includes yummy arvo tea).

Billabong’s Occy’s Grom Comp
Friday 3 July to Wednesday 7 July – location TBC
Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilipo is back in search of the nation’s hottest junior surfers. This is one of the notorious events for juniors and fun to watch for all surf lovers. Free to watch for spectators.
Lifeline Bookfest
Friday 2 July from 8am to 8pm, Saturday & Sunday from 8am to 5pm and Monday 5 July from 8am to 2pm – Parklands Showgrounds, Parklands Drive, Southport
Over 100,000 books for sale from history to fiction, children’s books and much more! Books start as low as 50 cents and there will be a balloon man and face painter on hand to entertain the kids (and a jumping castle on the weekends), plus prizes to be won. Entry is free and money raised goes to Lifeline’s charity.
Gold Coast Airport Marathon
Saturday 3 July and Sunday 4 July from 6am - Broadwater Parklands, Marine Pde, Southport
How motivating to see tens of thousands racing to meet their challenge and conquer their chosen distance. If you are competing this year – way to go! – if not there is always next year! There are even junior dashes for the kids, a 2km or 4km run.
Illuminate Winter Wonderland
Saturday 26 June until Friday 16 July from 5pm to 7pm daily - Dreamworld
Some nights it feels cold enough to snow … well the kids can enjoy the white stuff at Dreamworld with their night spectacular with snow play, snow slides plus the regular ride line up. Enjoy a winter wonderland, ‘mountain’ of snow and laser show - entry is included in the $69 unlimited pass (purchase now until 17 July for unlimited entry until Dec 24) or you can purchase tickets online.

Babysitting Club Gathering

This is an event for the whole family where you can get to know the members of the Gold Coast Babysitting Club and form a support group where you can earn and spend points for babysitting with a warm, friendly, trustworthy and like-minded group of families. There is a new program out this month at your local library. Active & Healthy Holiday Program
From June 26 to 11 July
There are over 80 free or low cost activities on offer across the Gold Coast encouraging families to get out and get active this school holidays! There are six fun days for Pirates and fairies where the kids can come dressed as in their costumes and enjoy island games. Search through the huge list of
activities like kids combat, circus school, treasure hunts, bowling, inflatable obstacle course, surfing and more! The program caters to children of all abilities up to the age of 17 and if your children are not yet in school have a look at the Kiddies Holiday program which highlights fun for the littlies.
Vibe Program
From 26 June to 9 July
For the older kids there is the council’s Vibe program bringing free and low cost activities to children 8 to 17 years old. From Putt Putt Golf to make up workshops, go carting and stand up paddle boarding there is something for everyone.
Busy Bodies
Fun for ages 5 to 12 year olds in Varsity Lakes with the Busy Bodies team. The kids can enjoy activities such as cooking, creating, cheerleading & hip hop classes, outdoor games, Titans Skills Clinic, and/or a kite workshop. For all those animal lovers, get closer to Australian wildlife at Currumbin this school holidays with a fun and educational day of activities as an Eco-Ranger.
