With school holidays starting, the kids have a lot of free time these days and you’ve got to keep them busy. You’ve come to the right place to start planning some cool activities for the kids or for the whole family. There are lots of events to choose from (thanks goodness!) and be sure to check out the huge array of Active & Healthy programs on offer for the kids and VIBE programs for the teens!


School Holiday Program – Active & Healthy
Saturday 27 June to Sunday 12 July – varied parks / times around the Gold Coast
How will you keep the kids entertained this school holidays? Well this is the place to start with 36 interactive, educational activities for children up to the age of 17. All activities are happening at your local park for free or for a small fee and range from yoga to karate, treasure hunts, cooking, surfing, cheerleading, circus fun and so much more!!! All brought to you by Gold Coast Active & Healthy and Natural Areas Management Team (thanks goodness for them!)


Vibe Program
For the teens (ages 12-19) check out the Vibe Program with all FREE events to keep them busy this holiday break! From stand up paddle boarding to yoga, laser skirmish to photography there is something for everyone. Booking are essential for this Gold Coast City initiative.


Red Nose Day
Friday 26 June – All day
Check out the website for details on how you can support Red Nose Day and SIDS Kids research. If you see the red nose merchandise while out and about shopping be sure to support the cause and purchase a red nose, badge, bracelet, or even lip balm.


Bulls on the Beach Rodeo (featuring James Blundell)
Please note the venue has changed from Carrara to Sea World Drive, Main beach(opposite the Sea world main carpark).  Rodeo start time has also changed from 7pm to 6pm which is great news if you are taking your little cowboys or cowgirls along!
Friday 26 June from 4pm – 10pm – Sea World Drive, Main beach(opposite the Sea World car park)
Rodeo action kicks off at 6pm with bull riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing and kids attractions. Catch live music from 5:30pm with Rob Black and Band and James Blundell. A thrilling, country night out for the whole family! Tickets are available at the gate or online at www.oztix.com.au ; adults $25, kids under 12 are free. Beach Care community dune Planting Activity

Saturday 27 June from 9am to 11am – Bilinga/North Kirra (south of the North Kirra SLSC)
Slip, Slop, Slap and join your community dune planting this weekend. Make a difference and help plant native species and remove invasive weeds. Includes a morning tea and is suitable for all ages. Contact Caroline Jackson 5552 8823 or email FREE


Gem & Craft Show
Saturday 27 June from 9am to 4pm - Gold Coast Lapidary Club Inc. 80 Pacific Hwy Miami

Mudgeeraba Show

The 81st Annual Mudgeeraba Agricultural Show is back with plenty of fun for the whole family including rides, stalls, animal displays, cooking demonstrations, ute muster and much more! Gold Coast Pet and Animal Expo 2009
Saturday 27 June and Sunday 28 June from 10am to 4pm – Varsity Lakes Sports & Arts Centre & Central Park Oval, corner of Assembly Drive & Varsity Parade, Varsity Lakes.
Discover the latest products and innovations for your pooch at this free event for the family. Philippine Festival 2009
Sunday 28 June from 9am to 4pm - Jupiters Hall, Parklands Showgrounds, Southport

Gold Coast Worongary Muscle Car Expo
Sunday 28 June from 9am to 2pm - Worongary State School, Cnr Delta Cove Dr & Explorers Way, Worongary
Hot wheel loving kiddies will enjoy checking out the real thing at the Muscle Car Expo. See Gold Coast’s hot rods, classic and muscle cars. Make it a day out for the whole family, entry is $5 with kids under 12 free. There is plenty of entertainment, displays, and food and drink available.


Mater Little Miracles 5ks for Kids
Sunday 28 June from 9am to 12noon (walk commences at 10am) - Evandale Parklands, Gold Coast Arts
Support the Mater Foundation and take the whole family down for the 5km walk. There is pre-race entertainment and funds go directly to the Mater Mother’s Hospital and Mater Children’s Hospital. Pre-registration: $12 per person, $20 per family. Registration on the day: $15 per person, $25 per family. Enter a team (min 4 people): $10 per entrant.


Dragon Boating-Come & Try Day

Sunday 28 June from 10am to 12pm – Royal Pines Marina, Ross Street, Benowa

Puppets in the Park presents "The Magical Beach"

MVP Miniball Clinic

Tuesday 30 June & Wednesday 1 July from 9am to 1:30pm - Runaway Bay Basketball Association, Sports Drive, Runaway Bay
School holiday fun this week for boys and girls aged 6 to 10 years old who have a passion for basketball. The two-day clinic will feature Basketball Queensland Director’s of Coaching and Gold Coast Blaze NBL Stars who will be on hand to offer some tips! The Jungle Book - A Musical Tale
